ABC Engines and Frydenbø Forward Power the Future of Maritime Operations

Written by Frydenbø Forward | Nov 27, 2025 9:26:05 AM

Choosing the right engine has never been more critical as the maritime industry faces increasingly strict requirements for operations, emissions, and efficiency. That is why Frydenbø Forward is proud to be the distributor of Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC) – a manufacturer with more than 110 years of experience and a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and innovation.

Why ABC engines are ideal for vessels operating in demanding maritime environments

Power when it matters most

ABC produces medium-speed diesel and dual-fuel engines for marine, industrial, and locomotive applications. For vessels such as tugboats, fishing vessels, trawlers, or seismic ships—where conditions are demanding—this means engines with high torque, strong pulling power, and proven operational reliability.

Fuel flexibility – today and tomorrow

All ABC engines can operate on heavy fuel oil, MDO, and various biodiesel products. In addition, dual-fuel models offer greater flexibility and make vessels better prepared for tomorrow’s alternative energy sources.

European quality and reliability

100% of the components in ABC engines are manufactured in Europe. Each engine undergoes individual testing on dedicated test benches, where customers can be present during the procedure. The engines can be classed with all major classification societies worldwide.

Long service life, low emissions, low operating costs

With a focus on low fuel consumption, long maintenance intervals, and reduced NOx emissions, ABC engines are designed for maximum uptime and cost-efficient operation—fully aligned with today’s environmental and economic requirements.

A strong aftermarket network – local and international

Through Frydenbø Forward, customers gain access not only to some of the most robust engines on the market, but also to a highly developed aftermarket support system.
We offer experienced mechanics, and we have direct access to genuine spare parts and components from ABC.

Our service teams cover the entire coastline, offering both planned maintenance and rapid response in urgent situations. Combined with our technical expertise and access to parts from both our local warehouse and ABC’s European headquarters, this ensures high uptime, predictable operating costs, and long product life.

A strategic partnership expanding into new markets

The partnership between ABC and Frydenbø Forward has strengthened significantly in recent years. In 2024, the agreement was expanded to include Denmark, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands in addition to Norway.
This means that more maritime operators across Northern Europe now gain access to ABC engines supported by Frydenbø’s distribution and service capabilities.

Together, we deliver tailored solutions to meet customer needs—whether in fisheries, offshore operations, towing, or other maritime sectors. Our commitment to customer service and quality makes us a reliable partner not only in Norway, but throughout the Nor
