Customer day at Hanøytangen: FPT and Frydenbø presented the future of marine industry solutions

On Tuesday, October 22nd, Frydenbø Forward and FPT welcomed customers from the aquaculture sector and our service partners along the Norwegian coast to an inspiring day at Hanøytangen.
The theme of the day was efficient and sustainable propulsion, with a strong focus on innovations in engines, NOx reduction systems, and hybrid solutions.

After an introduction by Per Jarle Røyrvik from Frydenbø Forward, participants were treated to presentations by Gaia Bianco and Eduard Petrov from FPT. They presented the FPT Brand and showcased its comprehensive marine engine line-up, including the F1, NEF, and CURSOR series. These engines cover a wide range of applications, from smaller workboats to heavy-duty service vessels. A key highlight was the strategic collaboration between FPT and Frydenbø, aimed at developing cutting-edge propulsion solutions tailored to the specific needs of the Norwegian market.

From Frydenbø, Kristian Aase and Petter Sørensen held presentations on the company’s continued focus on hybrid propulsion systems and NOx reduction technologies, while Bjarte Knutsen from Frydenbø Forward provided an overview of our coastal service network and how we collaborate with partners across Norway.

The day clearly demonstrated how diesel, hybrid, and electric technologies can be combined to meet both current and future emission reduction requirements.

We also showcased our in-house developed Power Cube battery containers – mobile energy units that enable vessel charging, power supply, peak shaving, or UPS functionality for construction sites, feeding barges, or other operations where existing infrastructure is limited.
In addition, the Frydenbø NOx systems were presented – IMO Tier III certified and now covering the full power range from 130 kW to 750 kW.

The event also highlighted real-world experience from hybrid and retrofit projects such as Ritter, Mauren and Brønnøyværingen – tangible examples of how Frydenbø delivers complete, future-ready solutions for the aquaculture fleet.

“It’s inspiring to see our customers take the lead in the green transition. Together with FPT, we’re developing powertrain systems that combine performance, efficiency, and environmental responsibility,”
says Per Jarle Røyrvik, Managing Director at Frydenbø Forward.

The day concluded with a tour of our workshop at Hanøytangen, where participants could explore engines, NOx systems, and hybrid installations up close in operation.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us – and to FPT Industrial for a highly professional and insightful contribution to a continued strong partnership towards a more sustainable maritime future.
