Frydenbø Maritime Industries' roots go back to 1916, when AS Frydenbø Slip og Mek. Værksted was established in Damsgårdsveien in Bergen. With Karl Gjøvaag as manager, two slipways were built, focusing on the repair of fishing boats in the Bergen region.
