Frydenbø outfits the Watermoon project for Eide Fjordbruk

Frydenbø Forward and Frydenbø Elmarin have delivered the outfitting of the Watermoon barge for Eide Fjordbruk at Hanøytangen, from receipt and installation to system integration and commissioning.

The project at Hanøytangen shows what Frydenbø Maritime Industries delivers when Forward and Elmarin work side by side.

The assignment was to outfit an aquaculture barge for next-generation fish farming technology. It is a closed, integrated facility that places far higher demands on power supply, technical infrastructure and installation capacity than traditional solutions. This is not a standard delivery. It is a project that requires full breadth of expertise and coordinated execution across disciplines.

A partnership built on trust

We have worked closely with the customer over a long period. That relationship is no coincidence. It is the result of deliveries completed as promised, and of technical expertise that has given the customer confidence in demanding decisions. We are proud that they chose Frydenbø Forward and Frydenbø Elmarin as partners in this pilot project. We take the trust behind that decision seriously, and it commits us to delivering quality.

Forward takes responsibility for receipt and installation

Frydenbø Forward led the work at Hanøytangen. The scope was broad:

  • receipt and loading of equipment from a wide range of suppliers

  • electrical installation, mechanical work and piping

  • crane lifting and installation of process equipment through bulkheads on the barge

  • positioning and mounting of technical equipment on deck

  • welding and foundation work

  • hole cutting for watertight penetrations for pipes and cables

Forward also supplied two containerised 1,100 kVA generators, which make up the main part of the barge’s power supply.

Elmarin ties it all together

Frydenbø Elmarin was the system integrator on the project. Elmarin was responsible for connecting and integrating deliveries from a number of different suppliers, including two main switchboards and two UPS systems with transformer and battery, and for making sure everything worked as one system. The role required deep system understanding, precise coordination and the ability to take technical ownership of interfaces that no single supplier owns alone.

Once all systems were integrated and tested, Forward carried out the commissioning of the facility. Eide Fjordbruk received the facility with training, technical documentation and a service agreement that ensures ongoing follow-up.

The complexity

This was not a project where one supplier installed one product. Forward and Elmarin had to coordinate continuously with each other and with many other players in the supply chain. Specifications, progress and interfaces between disciplines had to line up, and someone had to own responsibility for the whole.

That is exactly the kind of delivery Frydenbø Maritime Industries is built for.

One barge. Two companies. Full delivery.

The Watermoon project shows what Frydenbø Forward and Frydenbø Elmarin stand for together: the ability to take ownership of complex, multi-discipline deliveries, from receipt and installation to integration, commissioning and training. For customers who cannot afford to take chances.
